Third stay at the Brassey hotel. They certainly fixed the problems we had on a previous stay. Clean rooms, very comfortable beds, lovely staff and a nice big room.
It's always so nice and quiet here yet cafes, restaurants and the foreshore are in walking distance.
We hired bikes for a day which were, surprisingly, in perfect repair.
We stayed 4 nights and the only thing we missed was some plates and cutlery which we ended up buying at an op shop, we didn't want to go out for dinner and breakfast every day.
We will definitely be back again!
This hotel is amazing! Beautiful gardens, and lovely rooms, and they were very accomadating to my assistance dog. Centrally located to shops, and major attractions are 10 minutes drive away. I always stay here when I come to Canberra. The staff are fantastic too!
Checked out a day early rather than stay our whole time. No hot water, old bathrooms, dusty rooms, old facilities. TV not working properly. Gym overcrowded due to servicing multiple hotels and running classes, and dining facilities located in another hotel down the road, which is not great in inclement weather. Overpriced, underserviced and in need of renovations.
When we raised our issues we were offered a 15% discount for our stay and told the pipes are old and you just have to wait for the water to come through. We waited 5 minutes or so before having cold showers one in the morning and one in the evening. Shouldn't have to wait 10 mins+ for hot water in a hotel! Not an adequate refund/response given we preferred to leave early rather than stay our whole stay 👎
Gorgeous old building with a lovely and appropriate refurb. Beds are comfy, and the staff are extremely professional and always happy to assist. A wonderful base for exploring Canberra, will definitely stay here again on my next trip here.
Stayed for a weekend. Was met with a beautiful old grand looking building. Unfortunately was not impressed with the quality of the room with what we paid for a night. Family suite was old and outdated. Carpet was stained, bathroom was old and shower was spurting water in every direction. Shower curtain was mouldy & stained. Very small area for a family suite. Gym was fantastic, but really no other facilities apart from a spa which was too costly to use. Staff were friendly, & beds were comfy.
The hotel doesn't have elevators so be prepared with bags you can lift up and down stairs (not many rooms are on the ground level.
The rooms are huge, but they should sacrifice a few cms to put proper sound proofing between rooms.
The free hot chocolates were a nice touch
Old school charm with amazing staff! I was initially taken back with the simplicity of the room - but when I started unpacking & during my stay I realised everything I needed was there, or waiting at the other end of a quick call to reception.
I would be happy to stay again!
Clean enough room, but mattress had collapsed on one side so had no sleep all night but worst of all was the double charged on our room, rang and emailed for a refund for almost 3 weeks in the end I handed it over to the credit card company to sort out. Wouldn't go back definitely Wouldn't recommend
